Cristiano Ronaldo has now become the first footballer to hit 100 million followers on Instagram. He hit the social media milestone this week, days after scoring the 47th hat-trick of his career.
The Portuguese footballer, who also has more Instagram fans than any other man, also has the sixth most-followed account.
Ronaldo lags behind Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Instagram’s own account.
His nearest football rival is Neymar, who has 74m Instagram fans. Lionel Messi has just under 71m, David Beckham has 36m and James Rodriguez has 30m.
Ronaldo is the first account to have 100 million fans on both Instagram and Facebook, having already surpassed the mark on the latter.
