Dan Quaye cries for unity as premiership qualification beckons

Dan Quaye believes Accra Great Olympics have the capacity to reach the level of the two most glamorous clubs in the country, but the board needs to put their differences aside before they can attain that tag.

The 35-year-old defender is in his second stint with the club after first joining as a 17-year-old in the 1997/98 season before moving to city rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the 1999 season, where he was instrumental in the club’s success in the CAF Champions League a year later and eventually the African Super Cup in 2001.

Dan Quaye helped the club win promotion to the Premier league in upon his return, but tasted relegation again following a turbulence season in which the club finished in lowly 15th position due to an alleged unrest between the members of the club’s board.

“The past three months we’ve been inconsistence at the top of the league table, but I think after occupying the position now with matches to go, by God’s grace we shall surely win all our remaining games to qualify to the Premiership.”

“Olympics is a great club which I think it should be rubbing shoulders with Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, however, because of misunderstanding between the board members we are stuck in making progress and in my opinion, this has been the bane of the club in so many years now.”

“We should be united to achieve our premiership status as one of the top three clubs with the numbers in the country because if we’re divided we’ll fall unless we’re united before we can stand. Our prayer is that the board will show togetherness like how we the players have shown throughout the season as we aim to qualify  and hopefully we sustain that status not just for next season, but for a very long time,” Dan Quaye deduced.

Great Olympics beat Okwahu United 2-0 in the Week 26 in zone 3 of the Division One League to tightened grip at the top of the log with four matches to finish.
