The Deputy Director of Communications for main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Boahen has described the budget read in Parliament by the Finance Minister in Parliament as hollow.
According to him, the budget contains nothing that will bring hope to the people of Ghana.
The 2017 budget was titled ‘sowing the seed for growth’ and that seed has still not germinated in the pockets of Ghanaians and they have gone ahead to add another ‘Adwuma’ budget for 2018 he said.
The seed the NPP sowed in the 2017 budget has rather brought hardships to the people he said
Mr. Boahen said this when appeared as a panelist on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted Kwame Afrifa Mensah on Happy FM IN Accra.
He claimed that if the budget contained anything for Ghanaians, the spare parts dealers at Abbosey Okai in the Greater Accra region would have heavily jubilated like they did in the beginning of this year when the sham tax cut on spare parts was announced.
He said even when the president visited the area as part of his Greater Accra regional tour the spare parts dealers refused to come out in their numbers.
It is an indication they have seen through the deceit of the New Patriotic Party, now common items cannot be cleared at the ports.
He noted that the one hundred thousand jobs promised in the budget is a sham as it will end giving miniature jobs unemployed graduates.
