YFM Takoradi’s host of Reggae Republic, Haruna Babaginda has secured two separate nominations for himself and his show, namely, Best Male Presenter of the Year and Entertainment show of the Year in the upcoming Western Radio and TV Personality (WRTP) awards, 2020.
On the 21st November 2020, Haruna Babaginda will be in the contest against Abeiku Biney of Maximum FM, Lyon Papa of Big FM, Kwame Atoapim of Space FM, among others to emerge winner in the category of the Best Male Presenter of the Year category.
In the category of the Entertainment Program of the Year, YFM’S Reggae Republic Show hosted by Babaginda will be in a battle against shows such as Uniik FM’s Entertainment Showbiz, Rok FM’s Agoro B3so, West End Radio’s Weekend Vibes, among others.
Every week, Haruna Babangida brings on board the greatest show of all time that recognizes the reggae music genre; a contrast in other jurisdictions where this genre has been relegated to the back. The show cuts across the history, legends, modern artistes promoting the genre and the totality of the reggae culture as a treasure in the music world. It is thus safe to conclude that ‘Reggae Republic’ steered by the excellent Babangida has become the barometer for all other reggae shows.
Haruna Babaginda could not hide his elation at these nominations and said: “I am very happy to have grabbed these nominations. However, we are just beginning the journey. The prestigious Western Radio and Television Personality Awards (WRTP) is an awards event organized by Ex-One entertainment to honour excellence in the media industry. The first WRTP award was held at the TTU auditorium on the 14th December 2019.
