2021 AFCON Qualifier:  Kwesi Appiah names strong starting lineup to crush Sao Tome

Ghana secured another win in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after defeating Sao Tome by a lone goal. matchday.

Jordan Ayew scored from the penalty spot to hand the Black Stars the three maximum points.

It was a difficult game for the Stars due to the surface of the pitch. Prior to the game, some key players had complained about the nature of the astro-turf .

The Stars were unable to create any chance in the first half with the scores tied before the break.

The second half started with more intensity from the Black Stars leading to the first goal as Sao Tome goalkeeper Gilmar fouled Emmanuel Boateng in the six-yard box.

Jordan Ayew converted the penalty with ease to put Ghana in front in the 48th minute.

The Stars played cautiously after the goal and were compact at the back as they prevented the home side from getting an equalizer.

Norsdjaelland star Kudus Mohammed who scored on his debut against South Africa was introduced into the game in the 64th minute.

Christopher Adjei-Antwi finally made his debut for Ghana since he decided to switch and play for the Black Stars despite been eligible to play for Germany. He arrived late in camp in the first game and missed the game against South Africa.

The Black Stars have accrued six points after match day two in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

The qualifiers will go on break and return in March 2020.
