Ghana’s only representative at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, Carlos Maedar has ruled out the possibility of winning a medal at the Games.
The 43-year-old athlete would be representing Ghana in the Alphine Skiing and would compete in the men’s giant slalom event at the Games.
Maedar qualified for the Games after competing in the Malbun National Championships in Liechtenstein.
According to Carlos Maedar he is still an amateur and it will be difficult for him to beat the professional athletes to win a medal.

“It will be very hard to compete with the professionals because am an amateur”, he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9FM.
“No, that is not possible because am not a professional skier am still an amateur and there is 70-80 professionals and there is no chance for me to get a medal”
He added: “Even to qualify for the Olympics is huge for me. I want to have this experience and enjoy, raise the flag of Ghana high. I have the honor to carry the flag at the opening ceremony and it’s a big honor for me”.
