2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Antoine Semenyo’s late strike secures narrow victory for Ghana against Angola

A late strike from Bournemouth striker, Antoine Semenyo, has sealed a narrow 1-0 win for Ghana in the clash against Angola in Group E of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Both Ghana and Angola created some goal-scoring opportunities with neither side being able to find the back of the net and had to settle for a draw at the end of the first half.

After the break, Ghana threatened more and had a hand on the visiting side when Antoine Semenyo, Abdul Salis Samed, and Joseph Paintsil were introduced in the 68th minute.

Late in the game when it appears the game was heading for a draw, Antoine Semenyo pounced on a loose ball in the Angola area and smashed home from close range to change the dynamics.

That solitary strike sealed a 1-0 win for Ghana to ensure the Black Stars bagged the maximum three points.

Up next for the Black Stars, Ghana will travel to Angola this weekend to prepare to face the side on March 27.
