President of the Ghana Badminton Federation, Evans Yeboah has explained the circumstances that led to players being transported on the back of a pickup truck to Boteryman Sports Complex.

The bizarre situation was brought to light on Sunday, March 10, 2024, by Leslie Addo who is a member of Ghana’s double men’s team.

Leslie Addo complained about lack of proper resources to prepare for the tournament revealing that they were transported to the game centre on the back of a pickup truck.

Reacting to this statement, the Badminton Federation president said the players were transported on the back of a pickup truck because the vehicle they were using broke down and they didn’t want the team to delay in getting to the Boteryman Sports Complex for the 2023 African Games.

“On that morning, the bus that they were using had broken down on the express way. So the coach in his own wisdom decided to bus them, as an interim measure, to bus them. By the end of the day, their regular bus schedule resumed and there was no problem.”

“We have also gotten the players a top psychologist to work with them and I can say that emotionally they are okay now,” Evans Yeboah told the press at a media briefing on Monday, March 11, 2024.
