The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared that the filing fees for both presidential and parliamentary aspirants in the upcoming 2024 general elections will remain consistent with those of the 2020 elections.

During the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held at the EC’s headquarters on March 7, it was disclosed that presidential candidates would be required to pay a filing fee of GH¢100,000, while parliamentary candidates would need to pay GH¢10,000.

In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the Commission reiterated, “The filing fees for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections will remain the same as in 2020,” underscoring continuity in the electoral process.

Leaders of political parties, in collaboration with the Commission, contributed valuable insights into the planning for the 2024 elections.

The EC further announced its decision to retain the use of indelible ink for the marking of voters in the upcoming elections, affirming its reliability in the electoral process.

Additionally, the Limited Voter Registration Exercise, a crucial precursor to the elections, will span 21 days, commencing on Tuesday, May 7th and concluding on Monday, May 27th, 2024. This exercise aims to ensure that eligible voters have the opportunity to register and participate in the electoral process.

The EC emphasized that the Limited Voter Registration Exercise will take place at the District Offices of the Electoral Commission and in difficult-to-access electoral areas.
