Ghana clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory over Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako today, June 6. The win propels Ghana to second place in their group, tied with Comoros at six points.

Mali took the lead just before halftime, with Doumbia finding the net in the first minute of added time (45+1). The Black Stars, however, mounted a strong comeback in the second half. Ernest Nuamah leveled the score in the 58th minute, breathing life back into Ghana’s World Cup campaign.

The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time when Jordan Ayew scored the winning goal in the 94th minute, sending Ghanaian fans into jubilation. Ayew’s strike not only secured the three points but also maintained Ghana’s hopes of topping the group.

With this victory, Ghana now sits in second place with six points from three games, behind Comoros, who lead the group with six points from two games. Mali and the Central African Republic both have four points, while Madagascar has three points from two games. Chad remains at the bottom of the table with no points from three matches.

Ghana’s next challenge is against the Central African Republic, set for Monday, June 10th, at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The match is crucial for the Black Stars as they aim to continue their pursuit of a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This win against Mali not only boosts Ghana’s position in the group but also strengthens their momentum heading into the next fixtures, making their upcoming match in Kumasi a must-watch for fans and supporters.
