Scores of Ghanaian highlife giants have poured in several tributes to the late legendary highlife musician Paapa Yankson.
Speaking on Happy FM‘s Ayeeko Drive show with Deejay Advicer, Rex Omar, Chairman of GHAMRO admitted that Paapa Yankson was a staunch member of GHAMRO and that leaves them is a solemn mood.
“It’s a huge loss to us but good knows best. I heard the news (on Friday) at about 9am. He was a long-standing and staunch member of GHAMRO and we will honour him as such.” Rex Omar said.
On her part, Akosua Agyapong recounted her relationship with Paapa Yankson.
“Paapa Yankson’s death is a big blow to the industry. He is a real highlife legend who took his trade very serious. Whenever we go for a show, he makes sure everyone is fine. He will ensure you have food to eat and somewhere to sleep. He was a very caring personality. I hope he is given a befitting funeral to fit his status in the music industry.” Akosua Agyapong told Happy FM.
Evergreen highlife legend, Daniel Amakye Dede said, “I send my condolences to the family of our father Paapa Yankson. It’s a big loss to the whole of Ghana. He is my personal friend though he is older than me. He affectionately calls me “Kofi Kofi.” I have never seen him angry and he is very humble and down to earth. We will all help to give him a befitting burial.” Amakye Dede recounted on Happy FM.
Paapa Yankson passed on last Friday at his Dansoman residence.
