The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled his linguist, Kyeame Kofi Nti, following a decision taken at a meeting of the Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace.
A Facebook post by the Manhyia Palace on Monday, April 20, indicated that the decision was reached after several allegations and concerns were raised against the former Kyeame during the meeting.
Key among the issues cited were questions surrounding his royal lineage, as well as concerns over his inability to properly invoke the Otumfuo Ntam Kɛseɛ, a central responsibility associated with his role.
He was also accused of improperly handling and retaining multiple invocations of the Ntam Kɛseɛ beyond what is traditionally permitted for occupants of the position.
The Council further noted that he failed to appropriately report invocations of the Ntam Kɛseɛ, describing the conduct as a serious breach of the expectations attached to such a revered office.
Additionally, allegations relating to the wrongful enstoolment of an Ayaase Dikro, as raised by the Ayaasehene, were considered during the proceedings.
Following deliberations, the Council resolved to remove him from office.
