Only three foreign based players should be invited to the Black Stars- George Alhassan

Former Ghanaian international, George Alhassan has decried the inundation of the Black Stars with foreign based players as the cause of the inconsistencies in the performance of the senior national team the Black Stars to the much inclusion of foreign based players in the team.
Jairzinho, as he was affectionately known during his heyday,  made this revelation in his quest to compare his time with the Black Stars to the current squad’s performance on the continent.
He intimated that the main problem of the current Black Stars team is the inclusion of too many foreign based player.
“I believe the dominance of the foreign based players in the Black Stars is the reason for their consistently low performances on the African stage. Why don’t we choose only two or three foreign based players to join the team for AFCON qualifiers and then invite more to participate in the FIFA World Cup? I am saying this because the Ghanaian team is not used to foreign players.” George told Happy FM.
“During my days with the Black Stars, CAF had a law which barred more than two foreign based players to be part of the national team. This law was amended in 1984 and since then, the Black Stars team has been dominated by professionals and that year we were eliminated in the first round under the late Coach Emmanuel Afranie. So I believe that this has been the bane of the Black Stars till date.” George lamented.
The two times local goal king  was part of the Black Stars squads that won the 1978 and 1982 Africa Cup of nations.
George Alhassan played for Accra Great Olympics before moving to Gabon to play for FC 105. He then moved on to South Korea to play for Hyundai Horangi FC.
He has signed a-two-year contract with UAE club Al-Ittihad Kalba as their U-20 coach.
