Chairman of NDC Council of Elders, South Africa, Benjamin Kofi Quashie, has assured Ghanaians that the 24 hour economy promised by President John Dramani Mahama will be implemented.

According to him, the policy wasn’t just another campaign promise that would be forgotten.

Speaking in an interview with Bismark Brown on Happy 98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show he said, “President Mahama has made it very clear and shown that he will fullfill the social contract he has with Ghanaians. It’s not just a campaign promise I assure you”.

He revealed that committees have been formed looking into the implementation of this promise just that, it is not yet open to the public.

He mentioned that the implementation of the policy is taking time because the President wants to plan it well so everything can go smoothly.

“I know for a fact that there is a committee working towards that. The committee is identifying the sectors that President Mahama wants to roll out the 24 hour economy from. Secondly the 24 hour economy will bring a lot of things so it’s not a policy we’re going to rush into without knowing this and this is what we have to do unlike what our people in the NPP did with their Free SHS” he highlighted.

He stated “although the Free SHS policy was a good one, they rushed with it and it caused us a lot of problems which we are trying to prevent that from happening again”.

“I know President Mahama doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes NPP made so he’s doing everything possible to ensure that the 24 hour economic policy will have a smooth sailing” he added.
