Ghanaian rapper Strongman Burner, known in real life as Osei Kwaku Vincent, has debunked claims that Ghanaian artistes rap in Twi because they can’t speak English.
According to the fast-rising rapper and hip hop artiste who is currently signed to Sarkodie’s Sarkcess Music, they rap in Twi because it is easier to send your message across to the masses in Twi than in English.
Speaking in an interview with Chaskele on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra hosted by Dr Cann, Strongman sought to find how many Ghanaians have been nominated to the BET because they use English.
” The fact that I do not rap in English doesn’t mean I can’t speak English. The assertion from some Ghanaians that me and my colleagues in the music business can’t rap in English is neither here nor there. As far as we can speak English, we can also rap or sing in English. How many artistes use English in Ghana and have been nominated in big awards like the BET? “. Strongman told Happy FM..
“To be able to do all this, that is the reason l enrolled at university of cape coast UCC”, he added.
Strongman came to the limelight after winning Freestyle Saturday” in 2011 and The Next Big Thang In Gh Hip-hop” in 2012.
