It was a glorious day for KARL BROWN as they drubbed Quick SMS 4-2 in a blistering final to scoop the maiden edition of the Happy FM-Databank Corporate Knockout Challenge staged at the Lizzy Sports Complex on Saturday.
Hundreds of patrons enjoyed the exhibition of friendly hostilities between the two sides in the highly intriguing final.where 32 firms competed for honours.
Both sides proved their worth throughout the competition and the final was a sight to behold as the quality of football exhibited by both sides was a clear indication that their final berth was no fluke.
The heroics of Quick SMS goalkeeper Excobar helped his side from conceding a more embarrassing scoreline.
For their Prize, Karl Brown got Ghc 3,000, medals and a giant trophy while 1st runners-up Quick SMS got Ghc 1,500 and medals.
In the lucky teams game, Baffour Gyan led Paradise PAC were stunned by First Atlantic Bank who forced the game into penalties after rallying from a 3-1 deficit to draw parity and subsequently winning the game 3-2 on penalties after Baffour Gyan missed his kick. They went home with Ghc 500 for their effort.
Abraham Kudemor of Paradise PAC won the glittering top scorer trophy after netting 8 goals in the competition.
President of New Edubiase United Abdul Salam Yakubu, who also has a stake in Tema Steel, was however the toast of fans as he led his side by example, netting 3 goals in as many games, revisiting his heyday which earned him the nickname Sabato since his playing style was similar to ex Ghana star Ablade Kumah.
Aside Abdul Salam, president of Amidaus Professional, Baba Gedo also led his charges AKSHAN which featured staunch Kotoko supporter and philanthropist Francis Ofori Mensah Pusher but they crushed out after succumbing to a 2-0 defeat to eventual winners KARL BROWN.
The competition, which was officiated by FIFA and Class One referees, was witnessed by former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) boss Alhaji Ali Raji who praised the organizers for mooting this idea and executing it with such level of aptness.
