Police foil robbery at Koforidua

Police in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua last night foiled a robbery in the New Juaben Municipality after a police patrol team spotted masked men in an unlicensed Toyota salon car.
The robbers, two males and two females were chased by the police patrol team who spotted them, which subsequently led to them crashing the stolen car into a container at Nsukwao Malam park.
The masked robbers, however, managed to escape the scene after firing several shots.
Confirming the incident to Citi, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Ebenezer Tetteh indicated that the car which was being driven by the armed robbers has been retrieved to assist Police with their investigations.
“Last night our men were on their normal patrol duties when they spotted an unregistered Toyota Corolla with the occupants wearing masked, the occupants upon seeing the patrol team then sped off and the patrol team gave them a hot chase but upon reaching Malam park at Nsukwao they abandoned the car and managed to escape”.
ASP Ebenezer Tetteh added, “Preliminary investigations conducted indicated that the Toyota salon car they were using was snatched from its owner some days ago so currently, we have managed to tow it to the regional command to assist us with our investigations”.
“Intelligence gathered also revealed that they were going to rob another of mobile money vendors so I want to caution operators of mobile money in the municipality to be on high alert and look out for such people because we are aware that is their modus operandi now”.
