‘’My government is offering a new approach to doing things to drive the agenda for change, growth, job creation and prosperity   for all.
The agenda will certainly be fulfilled if the government brings governance to the doorsteps of the people adding that this will ensure effective and efficient decentralization through grassroots participation, better planning and improved service delivery in local communities’’ he explained.
He said the Assemblies are focal areas for the government’s rural and urban development agenda including the provision of better opportunities for poverty reduction, enhancement of quality of life and agricultural industrialization as well as urban renewal programmes with emphasis on development.
The Chairman of the occasion Alhaji Mohammed Nii Futa, a former Member of Parliament for the area said it has become necessary as part of government policy of devolution of power at the local government level hence the creation of the new Assemblies.
He urged the Assembly members to make adjustments that will make administration of the new Assembly feasible.
According to him, Accra as a whole has grown from a council to metropolitan so devolution of power is necessary to bring governance to the people.
He reminded them that in view of this it is necessary for all to participate in the development of the Assembly after its inauguration.
