Representatives of qualified presidential candidates in the 2016 general election will today [Tuesday] converge to monitor the printing of ballot papers for the presidential candidates and testament of polls form.
The commission last month started the printing of the parliamentary ballots, but withheld the presidential due to various lawsuits by some political parties.
Acting General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu said, to ensure transparency, the parties will be present to monitor the process.
“Over the years we have never witnessed the printing of pink sheets or blue sheets or statement of polls, both parliamentary and presidential. We all know the kind of difficulty we had in court where the Electoral Commission was finding it difficult to know the number of statement of polls that they printed.”
“It was so embarrassing and I do not think that we have to go through that again so we wrote to the Electoral Commission  requesting that we should be allowed to have access. They have granted that request and asked that we bring two agents to monitor the exercise.”
Parliamentary ballot: NDC, NPP pick number 3 and 5 spots Last month, seven (7) political parties were present at the Electoral Commission (EC) to ballot for their spots on the parliamentary ballot paper.
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition NPP picked the third and fifth spot respectively on the parliamentary ballot for the parliamentary elections.
The NDC and the NPP also picked the third and fifth spot respectively on the presidential ballot last week for the upcoming presidential elections.
