According to the Police Service, security measures have also been put in place for the inauguration of the Speakers and Members of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

The swearing-in of Mr Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia is slated for January 7, 2021.

A statement signed by Stella Kessie Abayie-Buckman, Superintendent of Police and Director of Public Affairs, Ghana Police Service, said: “Six thousand (6000) security personnel drawn from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces and allied agencies will provide security to ensure the protection of lives and properties and general maintenance of law and order for the inaugural ceremonies.”

“This will be augmented by technology to ensure maximum security,” the statement dated January 3, 2021 said.

“Conducive security environment would be provided around all dignitaries attending the inaugural ceremonies and related events. All VVIPs would be offered close protection as appropriate. Designated lodging places including meeting areas would also be protected by security personnel,” it added.
