Woman chews husband’s lips

For daring to question his wife over an alleged infidelity, a 36-year-old mechanic, Jonas Ansah Yeboah, has had his lips bitten off.

Susana Owusu to whom the victim has been married to for 15 years, had earlier threatened to pluck out his eyes and disfigure him.
Although they have had a series of squabbles in the past, he least expected that his wife would go as far as biting his lips.
Susana is also accused of inflicting machete wounds on her husband’s neck during a fight in their home at Tarkwa Atuabo in the Western Region.
Marriage on rocks
Narrating his ordeal to The Mirror in Accra, the victim, who has been referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for plastic surgery, admitted that his marriage was on the rocks, but he was hoping for things to get better with time.
He stated that his wife runs a drinking spot, but temporarily moved out of their matrimonial home and also abandoned her spot after a quarrel.
When his wife left, he changed the lock to their room but he returned from work and found the door broken by Susana who claimed she wanted to feed their two children in the room.

The two are said to have engaged in an exchange of words and ceased fire after some onlookers intervened.
A few minutes later, Yeboah confronted his wife again, but the exchange of words degenerated into a fight.
During the fight, Susana bit off her husband’s lips and also slashed his neck with a knife when some good Samaritans attempted to broke peace.
Yeboah was taken to a nearby clinic for medical attention and he was referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after first aid.
False complaints
Susana is said to have quickly gone to the Atuabo District Police Station to file a complaint of assault against her husband.
She is said to have told the police that her husband had threatened her with a knife and asked the police to arrest Yeboah.
The police were, however, surprised to find out later that she had rather harmed her husband.
Yeboah claimed he still loved his wife and wanted the issue settled amicably as he did not want a divorce.
Susana on the other hand had taken a bottle of hard liquor to the family of Yeboah threatening to quit the marriage.
