The Coordinating Director of Parliament House, Madam Kate Addo, has warned journalists that anyone covering events without a conspicuous display of their accreditation tag will not be allowed into any of the event spaces.

She emphasized that this rule has already been enforced, urging all journalists to ensure they are properly accredited and display their tags at all times.

Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, January 2, 2025, ahead of the inauguration of the 9th Parliament and the swearing-in of the President-Elect, she also reminded the media about the importance of adhering to the ethics that govern journalism. She stressed the need for truthfulness, timeliness, and the adequacy of information in reporting, underscoring their relevance in maintaining professionalism.

“Let me reiterate that anybody covering any event here without a conspicuous display of your tag accreditation will not be allowed into any of the spaces and the Marshall this morning has already started enforcing that. So please, colleagues, help us to help you.
Let us all be properly accredited and to show our accreditation,” she asserted.

Madam Kate Addo further pointed out that Parliament operates under strict rules and regulations, urging journalists to comply with these to avoid any bottlenecks or disruptions in collaboration with security personnel.
