America’s Choice 2020: Political Analyst explains what a win for Biden will mean

Political Analyst and Senior Lecturer of the Department of History and Political Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwesi Amakye Boateng has observed that a win for Joe Biden will mean a strengthened relationship between the United States of America and international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO).

In an interview with Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he explained: “Talk of the style and the approach with other countries the rhetoric might change but basically international relations of the US and those countries will not change especially their partners in Europe. Joe Biden wants to become closer and restore ties and be part of let’s say the WHO and other notable international organization to get US to meet its obligation so it can exercise a leadership in the world. The democrats will restore those relationships”.

Per his view, the incumbent President, Donald Trump, has put the US into a state of ‘”isolationism” which he believes will change, should Joe Biden win.

In July this year, President Donald Trump formally moved to withdraw the US from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The President had made his intentions clear in late May, accusing the WHO of being under China’s control in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite calls from the EU and others, he said he would pull out of the UN agency and redirect funds elsewhere.
