Editor of the Informer Newspaper, Andy Kankam has asked the government to to put Ghana under a partial lockdown because of the indiscipline and complete disregard of Ghanaians for COVID-19 safety protocols.

He said this in relation to the President’s 22nd address to the nation on how to carefully manage the spread of the virus.

Talking to Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show aired on e.TV Ghana and Happy 98.9 FM he said, “If Ghanaians will not abide and adhere to to the protocols, some partial lockdown will do. I am not advocating for a total lockdown but a partial lockdown which is based on science and data. The President from day one told us every step he’ll take will be based on science and data from his team and that is exactly what we should do”.

He agrees that even though this decision will affect our economy and development as a country, it will also be better for us to have restrictions and keep each other safe.

“Right now where we’re going is serious and to whom much is given, much is expected. We should play our part and adhere to the protocols” he said.

He added that compared to other countries, Ghana is ahead of the COVID-19 fight “and if we continue to adhere to the protocols then we’ll be good”.

He advised Ghanaians to follow the instructions and COVID-19 safety protocols in order to be safe and also asked the Police Service not to wait for instructions from the President before taking action.
