The Cape Coast High Court on Wednesday 28 July 2021 annulled the 2020 parliamentary results of the Assin North constituency.

Justice Kwasi Boakye has also ordered for fresh elections to be conducted in the constituency following an election petition therefore restraining James Gyakye Quayson from holding himself as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for the area.

Quayson has been declared ineligible to hold the position because of dual citizenship issues.
