The first round of the 2021-2022 Ghana Premier League was experienced over the weekend with some great performances and results.

The first game of week one saw debutants Accra Lions share the points against Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Michel Sarpong’s goal for Elmina Sharks became the first goal of the season with Rauf Salifu scoring the equalizer for the newbies.

Asante Kotoko started the season on the front foot as they came from behind to grab all three points against Dreams FC in a 3-1 game at the Accra Sports Stadium. Fatawu Issahaku scored the only goal for Dreams to announce himself in the elite while Mudasiru Salifu, Isaac Oppong, and Richmond Lamptey scored the goals for the Porcupines.

The return of Augustine Okrah to Bechem United saw his side sit on top of the league table after week one as they triumph over Medeama SC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. He provided an assist and scored a goal in a 4-0 win.

On Sunday at the Duns Park, newly promoted Bibiani Gold Stars displayed a stunning performance in their 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea.

Elsewhere, defending Champions, Hearts of Oak played out a goalless draw at home to Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium, as their slow start to a new season manifest, while Aduana Stars settle for a point against Karela United in a 1-1 draw game at the Cam Park.

Emmanuel Gyamfi scored his debut goal for the Ogya Boys while Hafiz Dogo scored the equalizer for Karela.

Also at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, King Faisal clinched their 3 points against the academy boys of WAFA with Zubeiru Mohammed netting the only goal in the game as a substitute.

Ashanti Gold pipped a 1-0 win over Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman thanks to an Eric Esso goal, as they put behind their alleged involvement in match-fixing scandal last season.

The final game of the first round saw Real Tamale United grab a point against Accra Great Olympics at the Aliu Mahama Stadium. David Abagna scored a late equalizer in the dying minutes for the newcomers after Raymond Grippmann scored earlier in the game for Olympics.
