Former NUGS President appointed Deputy National Youth Organizer of the NPP

New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed former National Union of Ghanaian Students (NUGS) president, Isaac Jay Hyde, as the Deputy National Youth Organizer of the party.

According to the NPP, Jay Hyde and Sandra Sarkodie-Addo would be the best people to aid National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha Mohammed, for smooth sailing in a bid to ‘break the 8’.

The appointments, which is announced at the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Accra on Friday, August 26, 2022, is in compliance with Articles 10 and 15 of the NPP’s Constitution.

The NEC, in accordance with Article 10 of the Party’s Constitution, also appointed 18 persons to serve as Directors of the Party at the National Secretariat. These were contained in a statement issued by Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary, NPP, after the meeting.

Kwei will serve as Deputy National Organisers.

Safia Mohammed and Miriam Awurama Duah will occupy the Deputy National Women’s Organiser position.

The Deputy National Nasara Coordinators are: Abdul Taric Bonsu and Hajia Ayesha Yussif, the statement said.
Mr Dan Botwe, the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, has also been appointed to serve as the Party’s Director of Campaign Strategy, while Mr William Yamoah will serve as Director of Finance and Administration.

Other positions are: Evans Nimako, Director of Research and Elections; Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications; Frederick Kofi Ameyaw, Director for External Affairs; Kwodwo Afari, Director of Protocols, and Eric Ntori, Director of Information Technology.

“The Party takes this opportunity to congratulate all the appointees and implores them to effectively discharge their mandate as the Party seeks to win the 2024 general election,” the statement said.

Profile of Isaac Jay Nii Amahtey Hyde

Isaac Jay Hyde is a leader, a staunch activist, and an ambassador for youth inclusion in government policy direction.
He has 10 years of combined experience in student leadership and activism, development work and entrepreneurship. Trained on the principles of stewardship and group spirit, Mr Hyde has nurtured an empathetic understanding of global political, and leadership systems with a focused vision of transforming its policy landscape to be youth-led and youth-centred.

This vision has been catalysed by a current education in law at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration coupled with a Master’s Study in Brands and Communication at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) Accra as well as Business Administration (Management Studies option) for undergraduate studies. This has informed his considerable understanding of policy planning and formulation, project and Business management, research, marketing and communications.

He is the former President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and the Business Development Officer of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU)

While in his 2nd year of undergraduate degree he was elected as the Local President of the Private University Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG), the advocacy body of all Private University Students in Ghana. Having excelled in the role as Local President of (PUSAG), he became the Vice President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and subsequently became the (SRC) President that same academic year.

Hyde has worked as a Volunteer Coordinator for the West Africa International Health Summit (WAIHS). A yearly summit that seeks to bring health officials and manufacturers within the medical space from across the world to showcase their products and discuss health issues and innovative solutions for tackling them. He also served as a Director for Oriental Biomedical Services, the parent company behind the West Africa International Health Summit (WAIHS).


Mr Hyde was the first unified President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) after a long period of division which culminated in the near death of the largest Youth and Students movement in Ghana. His engagement and accommodating style of leadership has brought back the Union as a major stakeholder in the national discourse.


He has spoken and served on various National Committees to champion the Youth agenda which includes the development of the National Youth Peace Charter under the auspices of the National Youth authority. Youth and Students Representative on the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee, Organizing Committee Member of the International Youth Day Celebrations (Ghana), Organizing Committee Member of the African Youth Day Celebrations (Ghana), Speaker-Ghana Beyond Aid Forum, Speaker World Youth Forum and others.


He is an adept communicator and a trained Leader. Among other national honours, Jay Hyde was awarded among the 50 most influential Ghanaians in 2020.


Suffice it to say, Jay Hyde is not only a community leader impacting his locality but also a global citizen and a change-maker.
He is a debater and reader at heart, a swimmer at leisure and a daily music-lover.
