Rwanda’s female national team have been revealed as Ghana’s opponents in the first round of qualifiers for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

This was disclosed during the draw on Thursday in Rabat, Morocco.

The matches are scheduled to take place between September 18-23, 2023 in a two-legged encounter as Ghana aim to return to the continental showpiece after missing out last year.

The winner from the Ghana-Rwanda clash is expected to play the winner of Gambia and Namibia between November 27 and December 5.

Ghana are aiming to join 10 other teams while Morocco host the tournament for the second consecutive time.

The Black Queens began preparing for the qualifiers a few months ago. They played three friendly matches, one against Benin and two against Senegal, all of which they won to prepare for competitive matches.

They failed to qualify for the 2022 WAFCON in Morocco after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Nigeria, and they are eager to make amends in this qualifying round.

This is how our path to @CAFwomen WAFCON 2024 will look like ????????.
