John Dramani Mahama, Former President and opposition leader of the NDC, is expected to engage the public in a Facebook Live session, scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 9.00 am.

This comes on the heels of his recent criticisms of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia regarding their handling of the economy and governance.

Mahama has been vocal in his condemnation of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, accusing them of incompetence in managing the economy and alleging that the Ghana Bar Association has been awashed with NPP sympathizers.

The former president asserted that these actions by the government have significantly damaged Ghana’s democratic reputation, causing it to reach an unprecedented low in the history of the 4th Republic.

These criticisms from the former President have not gone unnoticed and he have underscored the critical importance of the 2024 election in restoring Ghana’s democratic reputation and holding the current administration accountable for alleged corruption and economic challenges.

Mahama is expected to delve deeper into his criticisms of the government’s performance, outline his vision for Ghana’s future, and field questions from the public. This event will be accessible on all of his social media platforms

White House welcomes AU as permanent member of G20 ahead of India Summit The United States has extended a warm welcome to the African Union in anticipation of being the newest permanent member of the G20, a move, expected to bolster the group's global influence and cooperation. The National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan made this significant announcement at a press briefing at the White House U.S. on September 05, 2023. He emphasized the importance of the African Union's voice in the G20, stating, "We’re also looking forward to warmly welcoming the African Union as a permanent member of the G20 — the newest permanent member. We believe that the African Union’s voice will make the G20 stronger." This decision comes after extensive deliberations among G20 member nations, which include some of the world's largest economies. The inclusion of the African Union is seen as a testament to the growing recognition of Africa's economic and geopolitical significance on the global stage. The African Union's membership in the G20 is expected to provide a platform for addressing pressing global issues, including economic development, climate change, and regional stability. It also underscores the commitment of the United States and other G20 members to fostering stronger ties with African nations. The annual G20 leaders' summit will take place from September 9 to 10 in Delhi, the capital of India, and will bring together leading presidents and prime ministers from all around the world. The meeting's primary focus this year is sustainable development, but there will likely also be discussion of the continuing situation in Ukraine.
