The United Nations humanitarian office revealed that nearly 200,000 people, amounting to nearly a tenth of the population in Gaza, have been forced to flee their homes since the commencement of hostilities.

This unsettling development has put the region on the brink of water and electricity shortages due to an ongoing blockade.

According to Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the displacement crisis has escalated dramatically across the Gaza Strip, affecting over 187,500 individuals since Saturday.

Most of the displaced individuals are seeking shelter in schools. Unfortunately, the situation is expected to worsen as clashes continue unabated.

Amidst the escalating crisis, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported a staggering 13 attacks on health facilities in the Gaza Strip over the weekend. This has severely strained the region’s already fragile healthcare infrastructure, with WHO spokespersons revealing that medical supplies stored in Gaza have already been depleted.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation in Gaza as efforts are being made to address the immediate needs of those affected and to seek a peaceful resolution to the crisis to prevent further suffering and displacement in the region.
