Black Stars: We know our level; the team needs more time - Jordan Ayew

Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, faced a recent setback with a 4-0 loss to the United States of America (USA). Following the defeat, Jordan Ayew, deputy captain of the side, shared his insights during a post-match conference.

Ayew emphasized the need for patience and time to develop the new team, acknowledging the challenges they face. He stated, “The team needs more time because this is a new team assembled, it’s a new group, and most of the players are inexperienced, so it’s not easy. The team is working hard to get things right.”

The defeat against the USA, in which the Black Stars conceded four goals, highlighted the team’s current state. Ayew viewed these types of games as “reality checks” that help the team understand its level and areas that require improvement. He added, “We are pushing hard to get better performances.”

It’s worth noting that the Black Stars also suffered a 2-0 defeat in their first game against Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium, bringing their total goals conceded in the two matches to six, without scoring any goals.

Looking ahead, the Black Stars are shifting their focus to the upcoming World Cup qualifiers scheduled for November. They will face Madagascar on November 13 and Comoros on November 21 in these crucial matches. After the qualifiers, Ghana’s attention will turn to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast next year.
