Talented Ghanaian-American basketball player, Ashley Owusu has achieved a significant milestone by being drafted into the prestigious Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Her journey to this point was marked by a stellar career in college basketball that caught the attention of WNBA scouts.

Initially making her mark in women’s basketball through her time at the University of Maryland and Virginia Tech University, Ashley later transferred to Penn State University, where her skills and dedication shone brightly. With her Ghanaian heritage from her father and upbringing in the US, Owusu brings a unique blend of cultural influences to the court.

At just 23 years old, Ashley Owusu was chosen as the 33rd pick in the WNBA Draft, selected by the Dallas Wings in the third round. Her impressive stats from her season at Penn State University, where she averaged 17.7 points, 3.6 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in 20 games, showcased her talent and potential on the court.

Owusu’s draft selection not only marks a personal achievement but also a significant moment for Penn State University, as she becomes the first player from the university to be drafted into the WNBA since 2016.

Her success adds her name to the esteemed list of 16 players from the university who have achieved this milestone, solidifying her place as a rising star in the world of women’s basketball.
