President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his rejection of claims that he shields or protects his appointees implicated in corruption scandals, reiterating his commitment to upholding accountability and transparency in government.

In a response to former President John Mahama’s accusations, President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to adhering to the principles of justice and upholding due process in its unwavering efforts to combat corruption, ensuring that all allegations are thoroughly investigated and addressed in a fair and transparent manner.

Former President John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has persistently accused President Akufo-Addo of shielding his appointees from accountability, labeling him a “clearing agent” in the wake of corruption allegations against high-ranking officials, including former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah and others.

While inaugurating the new Law House in Accra on Monday, June 10, President Akufo-Addo responded to recent criticisms, stating, “I believe we are all familiar with former President John Dramani Mahama’s remarks, which labeled me a ‘clearing agent’ simply because I refuse to condemn public officials based on mere allegations, without thorough investigations and evidence, as he advocates for. Let me reiterate my stance, i will not sacrifice the principles of due process and natural justice on the altar of anti-corruption efforts, no matter the criticism or backlash I may face. My commitment to upholding the rule of law remains unwavering.”
