The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a mop-up registration exercise to take place from August 1 to August 3, 2024, across various locations, including all 268 district offices, 41 prison centers, and 26 public universities. The EC has given assurances that it will resolve network issues and address other logistical challenges prior to the registration exercise to ensure a smooth process.

During the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Thursday, July 25, the Electoral Commission revealed that the missing names from the voter register have been successfully restored. The electoral management body seized the opportunity to encourage political parties to inform their members to verify their names during the upcoming exhibition exercise, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the register. The EC made several key commitments during the IPAC meeting, including updating and sharing its calendar with political parties.

The EC also promised to publish the Provisional Voters Register on its website, in accordance with CI 91. Furthermore, the EC’s IT department will address concerns regarding the registration figures announced in parliament at the next IPAC meeting, providing clarity and explanations on the matter.
