CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers: Hasaacas Ladies held to a frustrating draw by Ominisports Etincelle in Group opener

Hasaacas Ladies, reigning champions of the Ghana Women’s Premier League, began their campaign in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers with a goalless draw against Omnisports Etincelle.

In their second appearance at the WAFU B zonal qualifiers, the Ghanaian team struggled to assert dominance, especially during the first 60 minutes of the match, which was held at the Stade de la Paix de Bouake.

The Burkinabe side, Omnisports Etincelle, kept Hasaacas Ladies on the defensive for much of the game.

Goalkeeper Grace Banwaa was instrumental in keeping the game level, making crucial saves in both halves to deny the opposition a lead.

Although the introduction of midfielder Fidous Yakaubu injected some energy into the Hasaacas squad, their offensive efforts lacked the necessary threat to break the deadlock.

For Hasaacas Ladies, this draw is an improvement over their previous attempt at the qualifiers, where they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria’s River Angels three seasons ago.

They will now shift focus to their next group stage match against Nigeria’s Edo Queens.
