Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Transport, Frederick Obeng Adom, has charged all Ghanaians with the duty of maintaining the health of oceans and water bodies in Ghana.

He indicated that Ghana as a country with a developing economy continually opens to the potential of the maritime industry in boosting its economy. “The maritime sector is a critical component of our national economy. It serves as a lifeline for trade connectivity and development.” he stated.

The Member of Parliament for the Upper West Akim Constituency highlighted the need for collective efforts in protecting Ghana’s water bodies.

He noted that the Ministry of Transport is aligning with the government’s mission to bolster the blue economy through sustainability. He charged all stakeholders to pick up the duty of keeping the ocean and water bodies in Ghana clean and healthy. “Sustainability should be at the forefront of our endeavour. In our pursuit of maritime shipping activity, let us not forget to protect our maritime ecosystem for generations to come. We must implement practices that ensure our oceans and water ways can sustain life and support our Blue Economy for years ahead.”
