The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) celebrated a significant milestone on Friday, August 30, 2024, as they officially opened their new office at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A distinguished gathering of sports personalities and dignitaries attended the inauguration, including former SWAG Presidents Joe Aggrey and Ebo Quansah, SWAG Patron Amarkai Amarteifio, and representatives from various sports associations.

The Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority, Majeed Bawa, emphasized the importance of this new office space for SWAG, highlighting the strong partnership between the Authority and the Association. “Today marks a significant step forward in our collaboration, and we are committed to supporting SWAG’s growth and development,” Bawa stated.

Former SWAG President Joe Aggrey praised the current Executive Committee for their achievement and urged sports journalists to uphold high standards of professionalism in their work. The Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, William Kartey, expressed his satisfaction with the new office and pledged the Ministry’s support for SWAG’s initiatives. He encouraged sports journalists to focus on positive stories and contribute to the promotion of Ghanaian sports.

SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah expressed his pride in the Association’s accomplishment and thanked members, stakeholders, and partners for their contributions. “Our new secretariat provides a conducive environment for sports writers to thrive and will serve as a hub for sports promotion and development,” Yeboah said.

He challenged journalists to strive for excellence and use the new office to elevate Ghanaian sports on the global stage. “Let us make this office a beacon of sports journalism and a catalyst for positive change in the sports industry,”
