The Ghana Police Service has placed a GH₵20,000 bounty on a group of individuals from Obuasi, who were filmed in a viral video threatening violence in the lead-up to the December 7, 2024, general elections.

The individuals, alleged members of the “NDC Youth of Obuasi,” were captured making violent threats in the video, prompting the police to issue a statement on November 15, 2024. The Police’s statement revealed that the actions of the suspects contravened Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which addresses threats of violence and public disorder.

Following the release of the video, the police launched an operation to apprehend the suspects, but as of November 24, 2024, none of the individuals had been captured. The suspects, identified as Fuseini Yahuza, Bernard Ahedor, Simon, Basit, Musa Yakubu (alias Agya Musah), and several others, have been on the run since the incident.

To assist in the ongoing manhunt, the police has in a statement on Sunday, November 24, urged the public to provide credible information that could lead to the suspects’ arrests. A phone number, 0547927272, has been set up for anyone with relevant information.

The police emphasized that the operation is part of their broader commitment to maintaining peace and security ahead of the elections, ensuring that the country remains calm and orderly as citizens prepare to vote.

The Ghana Police Service has called on the public to remain vigilant and cooperative, assuring the nation that they are determined to bring the suspects to justice and ensure the safety of all during the election period.
