The National Elections Security Task Force, led by the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has held a crucial meeting with the Electoral Commission at the Commission’s office ahead of the December 7 elections.

The meeting, part of a series of ongoing stakeholder engagements, was aimed at ensuring thorough preparation for the upcoming December 7 polls.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Dampare commended the efforts of all involved parties for their role in maintaining peace throughout the election period. He reassured the Electoral Commission and other stakeholders that the National Elections Security Task Force is committed to providing full support and ensuring that the upcoming elections proceed in a secure environment, free from violence.

Dr. Dampare stressed the importance of reviewing the distribution plans from the regional level down to local areas, noting that addressing any constraints early will help ensure a smooth process. He also emphasized the need for continued collaboration to address any challenges that may arise, especially in ensuring accessibility to all election-related resources and support.

Dr. Dampare acknowledged the calm and restraint demonstrated by political parties and the public thus far, marking a stark contrast to previous elections where violence was prevalent. He noted that this peaceful environment is a significant achievement, one that should be maintained and built upon as the election day approaches.

He urged all to remain focused on peace-building efforts, calling for their actions to match the peaceful rhetoric that has been shared. By doubling down on efforts to promote peace, Dr. Dampare assured all stakeholders that Ghana’s democratic process would continue to be a shining example of leadership in the region.
