President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to alleviating traffic congestion and boosting trade facilitation, which he views as central to Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.

He emphasized the importance of the Tema Motorway Roundabout Phase II project, describing it as a significant milestone in Ghana’s journey to becoming a hub for regional trade.

Speaking during the commissioning of the second phase of the Tema Motorway Roundabout project in Tema, the President highlighted the project’s potential to drive economic growth and enhance the country’s strategic position in regional commerce.

“This project, Tema Motorway Roundabout Phase II, underscores Ghana’s position as a hub for regional trade,” he said.

The President noted that the commissioning marks a turning point in Ghana’s infrastructure development, particularly in addressing long-standing traffic challenges on the Aflao-Accra corridor.

“The Tema Motorway Roundabout Phase II interchange is here to enhance traffic flow to and from our nation’s largest import hub, Tema Harbour, by reducing delays, eliminating gridlock, expediting the movement of goods, and enhancing trade facilitation. This will stimulate economic activity not just within Ghana but across the ECOWAS region,” he emphasized.

He also highlighted the complementary role of the project in advancing other critical infrastructure initiatives, particularly the expansion of the 64-kilometer Tema-Akosombo corridor. He described these developments as essential for connecting key sectors of commerce and industry.

“These investments are carving a seamless network that supports livelihoods, encourages innovation, and accelerates development,” he stated.
