Transport Operators Association of Ghana

Date: 4th December 2024

Announcement of 15% Increase in Transport Fares

In response to the continuous rise in fuel prices, the Transport Operators Association of Ghana is compelled to announce a 15% increase in transport fares, effective Thursday, 5th December 2024.

This decision has become necessary as we face increasing operational costs, making it unsustainable to maintain current fare levels.

We kindly appeal to the public to bear with us during this challenging period, as this adjustment is critical to ensure the viability of our operations and continued service delivery.

We also take this opportunity to caution our drivers not to succumb to intimidation or undue pressure from any individuals or groups seeking to prevent the implementation of this fare increment.

In the past, certain leadership members from our umbrella organizations have allowed government officials to influence the withdrawal of fare adjustments. However, we are resolute in our decision this time around.

We urge all Ghanaians to support this adjustment and appreciate the need for a sustainable transport system amidst the prevailing economic conditions.

Furthermore, we encourage all Ghanaians to participate peacefully in the upcoming general elections on 7th December 2024.
Let us work together to uphold peace and unity in our beloved nation.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
