EC explains why it moved collation to Police Training School

The Ghana Police Service has directed the four outstanding constituency collations in the Eastern Region to be relocated to the National Police Training School at Tesano, Accra.

The direction came as tensions mounted high during the collation in these constituencies.

The police in a statement said that, the directive is to enhance security in the region.

“The four outstanding collations have been relocated to the National Police Training School (NPTS) at Tesano in Accra, which is currently ongoing with a fortified security presence of Police and Military presence to ensure the safety and security of the process”.

The statement mentioned that, one out of the four constituencies has been completed leaving
three (3) constituencies pending.

The three (3), according to the Ghana Police Service statement is currently being collated.

“A similar arrangement has been made in the Ashanti and Bono East Regions for the remaining collations where the Police are waiting for the Electoral Commission to confirm the date for these exercises”.

The Police has assured
the public that adequate security has been provided to enable Electoral Commission officials to carry out their duties without obstruction.
