The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced the next parliamentary session will be held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, December 16, 2024.

In a statement released, referencing a notice dated December 2, 2024, summoning Parliament, Speaker Bagbin confirmed the Grand Arena as the designated venue for the session.

This decision follows his earlier refusal of a request from the Majority Leader to recall Parliament for urgent business prior to the December 7 elections, citing concerns over potential disruptions to election campaigns.

“Pursuant to the notice dated 2nd December, 2024 summoning Parliament, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, do hereby appoint the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre as the place of the meeting”, the statement reads

The December 16 session will focus on addressing outstanding issues before the transition to the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
