Nashiru Abdul Karim, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yendi Constituency, has temporarily suspended 184 members for violating the party’s constitution.

The announcement was made in a press statement issued on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

According to the statement, the decision was based on Article 3, Clauses (9)(1), (7)(1), and (8)(1) of the party’s 2017 amended constitution. It stated that the party leadership had received numerous complaints from members regarding constitutional violations by the suspended individuals.

The complaints, submitted as petitions, outlined misconduct linked to the recently concluded presidential and parliamentary elections.

These allegations were thoroughly investigated by the Constituency Executive Committee and the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

Following these investigations, an expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting was convened on December 23, 2024.

The meeting, which brought together members of the Council of Elders, the Council of Patrons, and the Disciplinary Committee, unanimously agreed to suspend the individuals involved.

The decision was deemed essential to uphold the principles and integrity of the party’s constitution.

In the press statement, Nashiru Abdul Karim reaffirmed the party’s commitment to enforcing its rules and ensuring discipline among its members.
