Renowned Nigerian gospel artist and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, has been invited to minister at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, scheduled for January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

The Akwa Ibom-born cleric shared the news on his Instagram page, posting the event’s flyer and writing, “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025”.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the U.S. Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast is a non-political, faith-based gathering held every four years ahead of the inauguration of a new administration.

The event emphasizes prayer and worship as a source of spiritual support for the U.S. government and presidency.

This year’s edition will be held at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom, hosted by Reverend Merrie Turner.

The event will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including Dr. Alveda King and Pastor Mario Bramnick, in anticipation of the swearing-in of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.

Nathaniel Bassey, renowned for his inspiring worship music and as the founder of the Hallelujah Challenge—an online Christian worship movement—has achieved global acclaim with songs like “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro”.

His music, blending genres such as jazz, hymns, and medleys, has cemented his place as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated gospel ministers.

In 2024, his remarkable contributions were honored when the Mayor of Albany, New York, officially declared October 6 as “Pastor Nathaniel Bassey Day”.
