The women unit (IRDN Ghana Women ) of International Relations and Diplomacy Network Ghana (IRDNGh) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on making history as Ghana’s first female Vice President-elect. This landmark achievement not only marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s political landscape but also serves as an inspiring example for women across the nation and beyond.

According to the president of IRDN Ghana, Eunice Dede Tornyi, the network is committed to promoting diplomacy and enhancing Ghana’s international relations. IRDN Ghana recognizes the vital role that women play in leadership positions. We urge the incoming administration to prioritize gender equity in its appointments, particularly within the diplomatic sphere. It is imperative that the outgoing female Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey be succeeded by another qualified woman, further strengthening the representation of women in key diplomatic roles.

As we celebrate Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s achievement , we remain committed to advocating for policies and practices that promote gender equality in all facets of governance, particularly in international relations and diplomacy.
