Interior Minister announces 24 hour fire brigades across the country

The Ghana National Fire Service has debunked claims of charging monies for attestation for traders.

The Service noted that, it does not charge fees for the issuance of attestation letters related to fire and emergency incidents.

According to a statement by the Ghana National Fire Service, reports received, indicate that some officers are requesting monies from traders before issuing them with Attestation letters.

“The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) wishes to inform the general public, especially victims of the recent Kantamanto fire, that NO FEES are charged for the issuance of attestation letters related to fire and emergency incidents. The Service has received reports that some victims have been asked to pay monies for these letters at the Accra City Fire Station”.

The Service has called on the public to report any officer who demands money for attestation letters from their offices.

“Anyone with information regarding this matter is encouraged to report to GNFS Greater Accra Headquarters, Korle-Bu or contact the Public Relations Department on 050 960 8744 for necessary action”

“The GNFS categorically states that this practice is unauthorized, and the public is strongly advised not to pay any fees for requesting attestation letters”.

The statement added that, “We assure all affected victims that the matter is being taken seriously. A thorough investigation is underway, and any officer found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the GNFS’s disciplinary code”.

The Ghana National Fire Service has reaffirmed its commitment to service the public with utmost integrity and professionalism.

“The GNFS remains committed to its mandate of serving the public with integrity and professionalism”.
