The President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has strongly condemned the raid on the residence of former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.

The operation, allegedly carried out by national security operatives on Wednesday, March 19, at Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home in Accra, reportedly involved disabling the CCTV system before conducting a search.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin claimed that some money, along with the governor’s wife’s Jewelry, went missing following the raid.

Reacting to the incident, Franklin Cudjoe criticized the misuse of search warrants, emphasizing that they should only be used for lawful searches not as a cover for vandalism, theft, or other misconduct.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, March 20, he expressed embarrassment that the Majority Leader of the ruling government was apologizing on behalf of what he described as state-sponsored thugs who raided a citizen’s home.

He stressed that search warrants are meant for legal investigations, not for vandalizing property, stealing food and money, or engaging in other unlawful acts.

“It is embarassing for the Majority Leader of the ruling govt to be rendering apologies on behalf of state-sponsored thugs who raid the home of citizens. In a civilised country, warrants secured are for lawful searches, not to vandalise property, steal food, money and jewelry,” he stated.
