Concerned Citizens of Jema have rejected the District Chief Executive appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, because he is not a resident of the district.

President John Dramani Mahama, has nominated Zurri Wilfred to serve as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kintampo South District Assembly and to oversee the implementation of government initiatives within the constituency.

However, a pressure group known as the Concerned Citizens of Jema has petitioned the Omanhene of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, calling on the President to reconsider Mr. Zurri’s nomination. The group argues that Mr. Zurri is not a resident of Kintampo South and does not belong to the constituency.

According to the group’s spokesperson, Col. Yaw Boafo (Rtd.), it would be unfair for the President to appoint someone who is not a local resident to lead the district.

He clarified that their objection is not based on ethnicity or regional background, emphasizing that they have no issue with individuals from the northern regions or different tribes. Rather, they believe that appointing an indigenous person would be more appropriate, as such an individual would possess a deeper understanding of the culture, values, and needs of the local community.

The group is therefore urging all assembly members, traditional authorities (Nananom), and relevant stakeholders to withhold their endorsement of the nominee.
