President John Dramani Mahama has called on Czech businesses to partner with Ghana in the development of tram and light rail networks for Accra and Kumasi.
This initiative he said is a key component of his administration’s ambitious $10 billion “Big Push” infrastructure programme.
Speaking at the Czech-Ghana Business Cooperation Seminar on Wednesday, April 9, he emphasized that introducing modern urban transport systems would help address mobility challenges in Ghana’s major cities and enhance economic activity, especially in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
He highlighted Ghana’s dedication to becoming a strategic hub for trade across the continent, noting that robust infrastructure is essential to realizing this vision.
As part of efforts to strengthen the country’s multimodal transport networks, President Mahama encouraged Czech companies with expertise in integrated transportation systems to contribute to the proposed tram and light rail projects for Accra and Kumasi.
